Kansas permits broad public access to many court records, yet custody still depends on the court. The Sumner County Clerk of the District Court maintains the register of action and files for district criminal, civil, family, probate, juvenile, traffic, and magistrate matters. Municipal clerks maintain their cities' ordinance and traffic dockets. Kansas CaseSearch provides the statewide public index for district cases, while records excluded from electronic access may require the Wellington courthouse terminal or a focused clerk request.

Only the court or clerk that holds the original file can issue an official or certified docket or court record. This site can identify that office but cannot supply the document.
